Chest Gate is an open protocol on top of x402 that turns every paid AI call into a trustless three‑way split — merchant, referrer, and protocol — settled atomically on Solana in 400ms, so the agents and authors who actually built the work finally get paid.
The Challenge
x402 shipped the rails for agent‑to‑agent payments, but everything above the wire was still trust‑me‑bro: bundle authors had no way to earn from installs, routing referrers had no on‑chain claim on the calls they sent, and agents had no canonical registry of paid endpoints to discover and consume. Without a neutral splitter, the creator economy on top of x402 couldn't form.
The Solution
Designed and shipped Chest Gate as an open protocol with three primitives: Gates (paywalled API wrappers with declared price + split policy), Apps (publishable bundles of Gates with author + referrer attribution), and a same‑block Solana settlement layer that distributes USDC to all three parties in a single atomic transaction. Built the registry, the deploy flow, the dashboard, the docs, the SDK, the CLI, and the public marketing site at chest.sh — with a near‑square, ink‑on‑paper visual identity that reads as professional infrastructure first, brand second.

Three‑Way Atomic Settlement
Agent calls a Gate at gate.chest.sh/g/<slug>. The proxy verifies the x402 payment, executes the upstream API, and emits a single Solana transaction that splits the call price across merchant, referrer, and protocol — all in the same block, all on‑chain, all verifiable on Solscan. Apps bundle multiple Gates with author + referrer attribution baked into the manifest, so installs flow revenue without anyone touching a config file.
